1947 Remington Deluxe Model 5 Serial # B1401170 1947 Remington Deluxe Model 5 typewriter, Serial # B1401170 Brent Wegher's 1947 Remington Deluxe Model 5 typewriter. 2024-02-08 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Brent Wegher: 1947 Remington Deluxe Model 5 Serial # B1401170 Good condition, just dusted off, cleaned slugs, even the rubber feet are good.
Original case is ok, working but scuffs and dings, latch works.
Standard keyboard. Pica typeface 10 cpi.
Good touch control. Will give it more work to see if it gets better.
Alignment good, left shift key different from right. Text looks good.
Carriage moves smoothly, bell works, margin setting works fine, platen rubber measured at 9 and 1/8 inches, useable but a bit noisy.
No sound isolation material anywhere, no paper bail, just the sliding clips on each side.
This machine was inherited, feels lighter than expected, lightly built, and with no frills.

Made in March 1947 according to the database.
The paper table has a glossy oval shaped center area that may be intended for some model ID or text, but there is no indication that any kind of sticker or letters were ever here. The back logo says "Remington Rand" but most people are listing this model as "Remington" for what reason I don't Know.
The machine must have been stored in a cool dry place for the overall condition is excellent. One small paint chip on the top left of cover, and a few minor dings
