Description:
I bought this 1947 Adler Standard in August of 2018 near Muhlenberg College in Pennsylvania. It was unusual to find such a machine there, and doubly so to find it with a brand-new, still-wrapped platen from Ames. The backstory was that it came from one of the main typewriter shops in Allentown, Pennsylvania. And while a lot of machines came and went, this Adler was the one that always had a central place in their window display. (Hence, the red key legends on the tabulator have faded from the sun.) I did not have this one for long, as I traded it with another collector here on the database. ;)

RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Adler Standard on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Adler Serial Number page and the Adler Standard By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
