1946 Woodstock 5N Serial # NC75107 1946 Woodstock 5N typewriter, Serial # NC75107 Andrew Nold's 1946 Woodstock 5N typewriter. 2022-12-15 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Andrew Nold: 1946 Woodstock 5N Serial # NC75107 This typewriter was given to me as a gift. It was a "fixer upper" for sure! Most of the paint is chipping off, and will need to be removed. Much time has been spent removing dust and polishing the linkages. Lots of mineral spirits were needed to get spacer working again.

Now that it is working (somewhat) I can say, it isn't my favorite typing machine. It probably needs more work. Keys feel gummy and slow to respond, and sometimes the advance function doesn't work.

In the future, I want to remove the flaking paint and repaint the machine. Perhaps more cleaning and mineral spirits will restore its original typing prowess.

Photos:

Front view of typewriter. Note badly flaking paint (especially the area near the space bar.) Also note the poor quality of decal. I suspect wartime shortages to have lead to the poor aesthetic detailing.

Front view with cover removed. The keys have been partially cleaned, but need more cleaning. Most don't stick, but they all feel a little sticky.
