1946 Underwood Noiseless 77 Serial # 1501023 1946 Underwood Noiseless 77 typewriter, Serial # 1501023 Daniel Burgoyne's 1946 Underwood Noiseless 77 typewriter. 2025-06-17 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Daniel Burgoyne: 1946 Underwood Noiseless 77 Serial # 1501023 Purchased in Montréal, Québec.

Was dusty but functional, except missing the spool covers, which I got from the US.

Has a Canadian bilingual keyboard layout for French diacritics. The platen is much harder on this model than on a common manual typebar machine, yet it is very smooth. I think it might be originally like that.

Bonjour! I am from the region of Montreal, Quebec and moved to Ottawa, Ontario in 1992.

Amateur watchmaker and machinist, I love anything mechanical, hydraulic or electric. I have restored American and Canadian clocks and small lathes, milling machines and a jig bore.

Most of my typewriters have French Canadian QWERTY keyboards, with some exception for rare finds.
