Description:
This Corona Standard 3C from 1945 (serial number 3C321695) is my first QWERTY typewriter and the first U.S. made typewriter that I got. I really like the smooth curves and the colour, seems really elegant.
It was in an okay condition when I got it. The left Shift Lock and Floating Shift keys were bent to the right so that the letters 'a' and 'z' were not usable, the key inlays for all 5 function keys turned upside down so that I only had white keys there, and the felt was so dirty and smelly that I had to replace it. Now it is in a great working condition and types beautifully.
I also have the case which smells now of coffee after a long exposure to coffee.

I'm a typewriter collector from Germany and interested in various kinds of brands and types from pre- and post-WW2, particularly focusing on Seidel & Naumann (Ideal & Erika), Triumph-Adler and Smith-Corona (my favourite brand!), although I own some other brands and am looking at some others (Underwood, Remington). I particularly like portables, my favourite pre-WW2 typewriter being the Erika 5 and my favourite post-WW2 typewriter being my Smith-Corona Silent-Super.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Smith Corona Standard on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Smith Corona Serial Number page and the Smith Corona Standard By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
