Description:
My second Remington Model Seventeen. This one was made in 1945. There are some small changes, other than the obvious changes to the labeling. There is now another setting on the ribbon color selct. My older 1940 model has blue (top), red (bottom) and white (middle). This 1945 model has an additional "-" setting between the white and red settings. Not sure what it does. I suspect it might be middle of the ribbon - I will find out when I get a new two-color ribbon. This one also seems to have two of the Remington-specific ribbon bobbins. My other one had only one.
Not sure why, but 2 out of 4 of the typewriters I have acquired so far has worked flawlessly without any sticky slugs - they have both been Remingtons.

Relatively new to collecting. Would like to document my collection.
Planning on sticking to full-sized American machines so I don't spend too much on fancy European portables.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Remington 17 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Remington Serial Number page and the Remington 17 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
