Description:
I bought this typewriter off of Facebook in Washington, DC. The seller listed it at $250, but said she "wasn't too sure what it was worth, so make an offer" I offered her $50 and walked away with what is probably the heaviest typewriter in my collection. The drawband needed to be restrung and the escapement needed to be cleaned, and with a new ribbon it types beautifully. I was planning to replace the bent carriage return lever, but now I feel that gives it character.

Typewriter collector in the DC/MD/VA area. Mostly collect wartime and prewar machines of all brands. I have a total of 11 typewriters currently, Royals are my favorite but I like anything with an interesting and unique typeface.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Underwood S on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Underwood Serial Number page and the Underwood S By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
