Description:
Telegrapher’s “mill”. Probably serviced, repaired and/or rebuild by “ASPA”. The plate on the left side of the machine is a repair of a crack in the hull.
The serial number doesn’t fit in the serial number table, so the year 1942 is an educated guess.
My pen pal in the US served as radio operator in the US Coast Guard. The typed text in the machine is a facsimile of one of his exercises.

I live in The Netherlands.
Most common typewriter brands over here are Triumph/Adler, Olympia, Erika, Olivetti, Remington and Brother.
I collect and restore typewriters to learn about their design and to write with them.

RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Remington 17 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Remington Serial Number page and the Remington 17 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
