Description:
Another rescue from a potential keychopper, this one came with a big surprise: a sans serif typeface I have never seen on an Underwood. It desperately needs new feed rollers, new paper bail rollers, and a platen, but after removing 30 pounds of dust, it works nicely.

When I was about 10 or 11 until I left home at 18, I had a collection of typewriters. I had about 10 of them, including one I still own (a 1941 Underwood S owned by my grandfather). About a year ago I found some of the things I created using those typewriters, and it rekindled a long dormant interest.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Underwood S on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Underwood Serial Number page and the Underwood S By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
