Description:
Royal KMM - my third acquisition. Needed some work, as the keys were sticky, the carriage return bar was bent, the bell was not functioning, and the margin system needed some adjustment. It must have been stored in a garage or shed, as it was very dusty, and there were two wood nails inside the body. Has a removable bottom plate, held in place with a small wingnut. As with my Underwood, the slugs became less sticky with irrigation of the basket with denatured alcohol. The carriage isn't quite as smooth as I would like at the left end of travel.
The "Magic Margin" system actually works fairly well. Rather than having to set the margins manually, you flip the tab, position the carriage to where you want the margin, and unflip the corresponding left or right tab. Also, first typewriter I acquired with glass keys, which seem less prone to wear and fungus than plastic keys.

Relatively new to collecting. Would like to document my collection.
Planning on sticking to full-sized American machines so I don't spend too much on fancy European portables.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Royal KMM on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Royal Serial Number page and the Royal KMM By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
