Description:
The Varsity is such a nice name for what essentially is a budget machine, however, don't let its modest price point fool you: It may have been the least expensive Royal portable at the time, but typing with the Varsity is a pure luxury. Light, and precise, the type action is superbly balanced for a machine that can't fall back on a touch control system.
Typeface size is "intermediate pica" which is "slightly larger" than regular pica.

RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Royal Varsity on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Royal Serial Number page and the Royal Varsity By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
