Description:
Very clean and very budget---it doesn’t have a bell nor tabs. It does, however, have the “Insert” character, the “^” subscripted--- a writer’s typewriter?
There is a hand-written note taped inside the case stating “Aug. 8 1939 / [buyer’s name] / $132.50 (or 32.50)”, probably the latter. Not proof that it was bought new then but reasonable.

While I find all of mankind's inventions interesting, I am most enchanted by the human-scale arts and devices, the ones that can be created (and repaired) in a home workshop or studio; the ones that can be understood by looking at them; the ones that do something useful or stir admiration. Typewriters work for me.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Remington Rem-ette on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Remington Serial Number page and the Remington Rem-ette By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
