Description:
A really early model seventeen that was offered to me for $20 from a nice elderly couple that read about my love of Typewriters in the paper. Wasn't sure what it was until checking the serial here.
Needs some type adjustment, but still works like a champ!

"Why typewriters?"
It's a question that comes up when people find out that I not only collect them, but prefer to write on them.
Analog writing is a much more tactile experience.
It's like comparing an artist painting with oils or using a wacom tablet.
You hear it.
FEEL it.
Get your hands dirty when having to change the ribbons, pay attention to margins, actually think for a moment before attacking the keys.
My story started with a couple of cheap beaters found in a thrift store for under $10 and has quickly progressed into close to fifty.
What started as a interest, became a hobby, then passion, and now could arguably be called an affliction.
But it's one that I intentionally infected myself with and haven't regretted even a little.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Remington 17 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Remington Serial Number page and the Remington 17 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
