Description:
Black, Corona Silent (Speedline?) with Ä and Ö keys. I'm not sure what the history is of the two keys with the tréma/umlaut. I'm guessing this is from 1939 because similar images on Smith Corona's current corporate Web site have that date in their file name. However, I also see other similar images here with 1938 as the year of manufacture.

RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Smith Corona Silent on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Smith Corona Serial Number page and the Smith Corona Silent By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
