The serial number, C122582, is 917 digits from the final serial number listed at Richard Polt's Classic Typewriter Page, likely dating this machine to 1938, the final year of the two-year production cycle for the Monarch Pioneer.
Earlier models, dating to 1937, have the words "A Rem-Rand Product" below "Monarch Pioneer" on the paper table.
This machine is very like the 3B.
