Description:
A fascinating machine with a fascinating backstory: in October of 2021, a globe-trotting friend of mine spotted this Continental portable with Russian keyset in the "Broadway" street bazaar in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. Over a year later, I picked it up from him in Washington, DC, along with the note from the Uzbek seller for customs and border protection, testifying that it was lawfully sold and not stolen. After a thorough cleaning and tune-up, it works remarkably well--probably the best of my Russian-language typewriters... and it doesn't have the annoying tik-tik-tik staccato percussion of my other Continental portables.
