Description:
For the longest time, I thought I had the only known Hebrew/Yiddish Underwood 46. Now I think I might have the only two! 😉
The backstory is that--in September of 2024--a friend and I were able to help clear out the apartment of Tikva and the late Peter Tytell, whose shop in Manhattan was for decades the epicenter of the typewriter world, with a particular specialty in foreign-language typewriters.
This rare Underwood 46 (46 keys instead of the usual 42, for foreign-language use) is not only almost practically new, but it has the telltale Tytell “strawberry” dealer tag on the back. This machine is so special to me, and will be among the highlights of my personal collection for decades to come.

RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Underwood 46 T on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Underwood Serial Number page and the Underwood 46 T By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
