Description:
I bought this Remington Noiseless Portable N99376 in Paris. The bell did not work as the Bell Hammer Spring was broken, half of it still attached to the machine with two screws. I was lucky to find the other half inside the case, therefore I new precisely what the entire spring should look like. After trying unsuccessfully several materials for making a new spring, I eventually found a piece of piano wire (Art supplies for Architecture) in diameter 0,5 mm, which was very similar to the original material. The new spring is back in place and the bell is now working again. There is no exclamation mark on this typewriter, and as the apostrophe is curved, it cannot be used instead together with a full stop.
