Description:
The frame is from a Tuxedo Black 1939, ser# G1287516. The original Red machine's frame was twisted, rusty and cracked is several places.
I swapped over the original red body to the cosmetically rough 1939 machine.
It incorporates parts from 1936 (Shell), 1939 (frame) and 1940 (carriage), in my first major attempt to overhaul, restore and make fully functional a beautiful red typewriter -- that were it to arrive today in the condition it arrived in two years ago, I'd turn away and condemn as unrepairable .
A beautiful and expensive lesson in futility.
