Description:
This Ideal DZ33 from 1936 (599038) was my first typewriter. It came in a near perfect condition except for a transport damage to the frame and a broken space bar. You can say it was the one that started my obsession but that is not for the most obvious reason: when I saw the damage I was pretty bummed out. My girlfriend encouraged me to repair it as it was in pretty good condition otherwise but I knew that it would never look perfect again. So, even though I got a parts machine to replace the space bar and I glued the frame back together I couldn't really enjoy it. That is when I looked for other typewriters and got into collecting and using them.

I'm a typewriter collector from Germany and interested in various kinds of brands and types from pre- and post-WW2, particularly focusing on Seidel & Naumann (Ideal & Erika), Triumph-Adler and Smith-Corona (my favourite brand!), although I own some other brands and am looking at some others (Underwood, Remington). I particularly like portables, my favourite pre-WW2 typewriter being the Erika 5 and my favourite post-WW2 typewriter being my Smith-Corona Silent-Super.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Ideal DZ33 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Ideal Serial Number page and the Ideal DZ33 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
