Description:
This machine is in really nice shape. Only the usual suspects - the rubber feet and rollers have degraded. I'd wager that it was serviced recently, before me, say in the last 30 years or so :) I've replaced the rear feet with non-original but cost effective replacements and will endeavor to replace the paper bail rollers if I can get the bail off. Sales Warranty certificate says sold in 1936 but date of manufacture is 1933. Did it sit unsold for 3 years in the heart of the Depression? Possibly.

A lover of the written word, I was bitten by the typewriter bug at the beginning of 2019 when I embarked on a Joyful Odyssey to track down a vintage Olympia SM 7/8/9, (I didn't know the model number at the time) that my mother had owned and which I had used to type my college applications in the late 1980's. I have acquired quite a number since, and have enjoyed learning about the history, mechanics, and true variety of these machines.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Underwood Champion on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Underwood Serial Number page and the Underwood Champion By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
