1932 Underwood Noiseless 77 Serial # 544975 1932 Underwood Noiseless 77 typewriter, Serial # 544975 Aaron Friedrich Lotar Rolf Klamp's 1932 Underwood Noiseless 77 typewriter. 2021-09-07 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Aaron Friedrich Lotar Rolf Klamp: 1932 Underwood Noiseless 77 Serial # 544975 Purchased this "Remington in disguise" from an elderly man, who wanted to clean out his cellar. It belongend to his father before, who was a Doctor in Mainz/GER. He must have bin a intensive smoker, or the machine was otherwise exposed in a smokey inviroment, as it was overall covered with residues of aerosols. The keys were barely readable to that point. So what followed was a careful dismanteling and cleaning of all parts.
But the biggest thing was the resurfacing of all paperrollers, cause of the flattened and brittle condition they were in. There were no fitting rubberhoses available anywhere, so I´ve went with PVC tubes instead, which had the perfect measurements. The paper inserts now perfectly! :-)
While making the pictures for the gallery I realised that the allignement is totaly off, so I will have to undertake another surgery.

This specimen is fitted with a QWERTZ layout and the 1825th example produced, if I counted right.
