1932 Underwood Noiseless 77 Serial # 570059 1932 Underwood Noiseless 77 typewriter, Serial # 570059 Gerald Ambrose's 1932 Underwood Noiseless 77 typewriter. 2024-10-19 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Gerald Ambrose: 1932 Underwood Noiseless 77 Serial # 570059 I have become rather leery toward Noiseless typewriters due to their odd typing action and poor print quality. But, when I saw this machine with its unique case I couldnā€™t resist it. To add to it, it actually types really well and the print quality is really nice!

I have noticed a few things with this machine, including the 'risers' on the feet and that the curved panel around the keys is made of plastic or bakelite.

Will add a type sample soon.

I have seen other early Noiseless 77s with these 'risers' for the feet. Does anyone know if this was done to make the height of the keyboard similar to a desktop typewriter?

I started collecting typewriters several years ago and it started with a late 1960s Smith-Corona Sterling portable that I got as a gift.
