Description:
This Underwood 46T from 1930 with the Armenian alphabet is the third Underwood 46 in my collection, next to the Gerlach/Polish one and the "Semitic"/Yiddish one. The seller was near Ephrata, Pennsylvania, and had listed it for sale in 2017, but we could never agree on a price--and I regretted it ever since. When it got listed again, I didn't hesitate, and I am quite pleased with it: such a beautiful alphabet.
I asked the seller how an Armenian typewriter wound-up in Pennsylvania Dutch country. She said she got it from her friend, Taylor Kinney, who (apparently) is an actor on the TV series "Chicago Fire," and is from the Lancaster area. Neither the seller nor Taylor apparently used it for anything other than decoration. But now it is tuned-up with new feet, thoroughly cleaned, and ready to sit on my shelf, as director of Eurasian, Russian, and East European studies.
