The carriage worked very well and is very smooth to return, but some of the keys were quite gummed up. After some light cleaning it is working quite well. With some more cleaning it will be a very nice machine to use.

As crazy as it sounds, the keyboard feel and the sound of the keys reminds me of my Underwood no. 5! To add to this; when I took the side panels off, the key levers remind me of the no. 5's key levers.

I bought this machine at a Flea Market.

While I was replacing the ribbon, I found this interesting device on the end of the ribbon attached to the left hand ribbon spool. I would guess that it is made of cotton, and has and metal catch similar to spool to hook the ribbon to. It makes the process of respooling this spool much easier.
