Description:
Interesting Remington #2 portable, with a nifty avatar's decal on the type riser. I imagine that the original owner added it, I don't think it was from the factory. The color is not really olive drab, more like a grayish light teal, so I don't think that it had anything to do with Army air corps. But who knows? After cleaning, I find that this compact machine is pretty snappy and easy to use, although the platen and rollers are so bad off that typing squirrels all over the page, not holding a straight line. Will get it fixed.
I actually had a Remington portable #2 in maroon back in the early 90's, but basically gave it away when I had to bottle-up and go. I'm glad I have one again; especially one that is quirky and not just black.

I'm just a regular fella, living the lush life in a haunted house out in the sticks. Back in the 80's and 90's I had several vintage typing machines, but through the gauntlet of dislocation they inevitably fell away. Now that I am finally a homeowner (albeit haunted), I can indulge in the love that I had and still have for these machines. Funny though, back 30-40 years ago, you couldn't"t give them away. But its good to see that people care about these wonders again.
