Updated pictures
I have taken the Remington Brothers outside for a Photoshoot on this sunny day , enjoying this nice spring weather.
I came across this wonderful machine online and decided to buy it, although I’d promised myself not to buy anything till May..I do have a budget. The direct buy option for €20,- / $23,- was too tempting.
With the pictures available to me I did some research online and was able to date this machine to be from 1925/1926, because of the metal protectors that seem to have been replaced by plastic ones in 1927.
2 days by mail..and finding this well wrapped jewel inside a cardboard box.
It is in great shape, looks like it was serviced recently no dust or sticky oil to be found inside.
When I started to feed paper into the machine I did discover that the rollers underneath the platen have seen better days, but the platen itself is in usable condition.
I haven’t done anything to the machine yet, not even changed the ribbon it came with and I could just type away, surprised how easy it operates and not being that much different to compact machines from the post WW2 era.
The case has its original handle and is also in a very acceptable condition, considering it is from 1926, and contained the original brush.
This machine was sold second hand in the Netherlands, the decal is from a company that didn’t start business until 1933.
Nowadays the grandsons are in the cartridge business, continuing what their grandfather started back then.
Conclusion..very pleased that I broke my own rules, but that shouldn’t happen too often :-)

Hello,
Typerwriterfan from the Netherlands, recently bought a few typewriters again and started cleaning and adjusting them.
I haven't touched a typewriter in a long time, but it's fun working with them again.
This is a great database and I will try to contribute too.
Have a nice day,
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Remington Portable 2 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Remington Serial Number page and the Remington Portable 2 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
