Description:
My favorite classic, the folding Erika 3 is a beast, and flings its slugs heavily towards the platen before their slapping back to their resting positions with a loud klop!
A good ha-ha.... In the instructions, the platen knob is designated the "ebonite twirler" :)

Call me Papa. Some time ago, never mind how long precisely, I decided to buy a typewriter. I think it was a Royal, but as way led on to way, it got away from me. I got older.
Now, I am but an humble collector of archaic writing machines. Rather than indiscriminately gathering them hither and thither, I painstakingly choose the next one, and all are used for epistolary endeavors.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Erika 3 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Erika Serial Number page and the Erika 3 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
