1923 Remington Portable 2 Serial # NV32509 1923 Remington Portable 2 typewriter, Serial # NV32509 Suzanne LaPierre's 1923 Remington Portable 2 typewriter. 2025-02-16 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Suzanne LaPierre: 1923 Remington Portable 2 Serial # NV32509 This is the first truly antique typewriter in my collection. I purchased it at Old Glory Antique Marketplace near Frederick, Maryland. The price was reasonable, but the owner had a sale of 25% off everything in his booth, so that made it a no-brainer - into the trunk you go! All parts seem to work just fine - drumroll please - "IT JUST NEEDS A NEW RIBBON!" I haven't even had a chance to clean it yet, so stay tuned for better photos. I'm excited to use this beautiful machine. The pop-up keys are the coolest. Funny note, I had seen it before but I thought the left knob was missing so that's one reason I passed it by - turns out this machine was not made with a left platen knob. I also did not know how to pop the keys up all the way. On this model there is a lever on the right side that pops the keys up. The serial number dates its manufacture to July of 1923.
