Description:
A very early Remington Portable [No. 1], dating to January 1921 (the earliest extant machines date to December 1920). This one only has a left shift key, but it does have the internal mount for a right shift key, as all early No. 1s do. Remington obviously intended to add the second, but as it was common for portables to have only one, Remington introduced it with only the left shift key. Later, early in 1922, Remington added the other.
