Description:
An unusual find, and I paid proportionally more for it, but since I doubt I'm ever stumbling across another, it was worth it.
Made in the period of 1910-13 (but with no way of checking), this machine (rightfully considered a toy by some) is well over 110 years old at this point, and it shows.
A FAMOS index typewriter, that has seen better days, but nonetheless is mechanically functional. The ink-pad is dried up, shrunken, and cannot perform its duty even if I were to re-ink it somehow, and it's missing the paper-clip that holds the tiny paper in place. Furthermore, the red capital letters are all-but-faded, and it's obviously beyond weathered - rusty and pitted all over. But it still holds a certain charm, and its simplicity is also a strength of sorts.
Bonus points for lightweight and not taking up a lot of space - a great qualities for any collection lol.

Casual collector of replica flintlock pistols, and in that same vein, picked up a couple of typewriters through the years - as a mechanical engineer, I could not resist.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Famos Famos on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Famos Serial Number page and the Famos Famos By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
