Description:
My third Diamant 1
A visible german three bank typewriter-
This typewriter was offered as the Diamond (diamant in english) in foreign markets. Hence, I have a chance to get a Diamond some day.
This one is near complete at first sight, even with the spool bolts in site.
The low serial number is marked on the segment and under the carriage (perhaps they were finished by hand, and that is the way to be sure the pieces fit when you intend to use the typewriter.
The pullstring (original catgut) is present but the typewriter lacks the scapement. So, I leave the string unattached.
Happens with the Diamant what happens with the Sun typewriters: They look fine, until you intend to use them. But I have three Diamant examples and two Sun examples. Is like human relationships: Love and hate are entangled.

RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Diamant 1 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Diamant Serial Number page and the Diamant 1 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
