Description:
Found in an antique store for 1/3 of the original price because the carriage was locked up solid. Much lubrication and nudging later, the carriage plays freely now. Had to replace the cord with 100#-test coated picture hanging wire. One day I will get the roller replaced because a hundred years of banging on it has left it totally pocked up so upper case and letters with ascenders (especially 'h') tend not to come out completely. I love the font. This baby is heavy as heck. My bucket-list machine!

Got my first typewriter at age 4, a Tom Thumb. Got my first real typewriter at age 15, a Smith-Corona DeVille. Have been collecting typewriters since 2010 when I found a 1945 Smith-Corona Silent at an estate sale. Current count is around 12, half of them are in storage .
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Oliver 9 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Oliver Serial Number page and the Oliver 9 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
