2026-JUL-12, Gallery Creation. This decrepit Fox 24 has been on eBay for a while. It's located in Bassu, France, and part of the large lot of typewriters being sold by the Hunter Collection. Asking price is $157.67 OBO currently in USD, but shipping (for me in the US) would be a whopping $263.74. It has an AZERTY keyboard. Unfortunately, an image showing the serial number stamping is not provided; but the seller has indicated the serial number as 103814 in the listing description. Condition-wise, this machine is probably not good for much more than parts at this point, unless there is a motivated restorer and cost and trouble are no object.

This is the only Fox typewriter on eBay at the moment, apparently. Looking at closed listings, there are only two recent ones: (1) a Fox 24, sold on May 31, 2026 by "platen", who is Chuck Dilts, formerly an editor of ETCetera. Chuck did not provide any serial number information, unfortunately, or I would have created a TWDB gallery for it. It's a Fox 24 in very nice condition, and its sale price of $610 (6 bids) reflects that. (2) The other sold listing, also in very nice condition, was a Fox 23, with metal case and base, sold on June 6, 2026 by a seller based in Yakima, WA. The Fox 23 was listed at $1000, but the seller accepted a Best Offer, whatever that was.

My interest in typewriters started in 1997, when I was in graduate school at the University of Georgia. I purchased and read Darryl Rehr's book, joined ETC, and started reaching out to known collectors. I had several email interchanges with Richard Polt dating from that period. I also bought some of my first machines from Bob Aubert, and visited him at his home twice. After marriage and relocation to New England, I continued visiting antique shops and eBay, until other priorities put my typewriter hobby on hiatus around 2008.

In late 2024, I started up again, working on my machines and having some of them serviced professionally by New England Typewriter (NET) LLC (Merrimack, NH), until they closed their doors in December of 2025. Since mid-2025, I have been adding to my collection again, first with a Hermes 3000 purchase from NET, then with various auctions and purchases on eBay, when I find something that catches my eye.
