Description:
This typewriter appears to have been shellacked at some point, however it seems to have protected the decals fairly well. I had never seen an Underwood this old, and was surprised at how small and relatively light it is compared to other typewriters of the time. It is still a bit slugging on some features , those old open frames collect a lot of grime.

“I come from under the hill, and under the hills and over the hills my paths led. And through the air, I am he that walks unseen.
I am the clue-finder, the web-cutter, the stinging fly. I was chosen for the lucky number.
I am he that buries his friends alive and drowns them and draws them alive again from the water. I came from the end of a bag, but no bag went over me.
I am the friend of bears and the guest of eagles. I am Ringwinner and Luckwearer; and I am Barrel-rider.”
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Underwood 3 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Underwood Serial Number page and the Underwood 3 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
