Description:
I got this 1912 Ideal A4 at Herman's typewriter gathering in November, 2019 from a collector looking to unload it as it had been damaged in shipping. Broken carriage rails and busted escapement wheel. Perhaps one day I'll get it back running again. But at least it looks nice.
[EDIT: After a few years on the shelf, I finally got up the gumption to try to fix it in the summer of 2022. With some replacement parts imported from Hungary, the machine is getting closer to functionality.]

RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Ideal A4 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Ideal Serial Number page and the Ideal A4 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
