Description:
Another XIX century linear index typewriter.
This one is a very impressive one, and it cames iinside its original wooden crate.
The operating instructions are inside the crate too.
Serendipity: At the bottom of the crate, under the Odell, I've found two dozens of paper stripes with names of old typewriters ((Crandall, Yost, Remington # 2, Caligraph, Williams, Densmore, etc. etc.), typeface specimen samples and prices.
I've shown them to Mr. Richard Polt, who figure these samples were produced by a company that sold used typewriters. Perhaps this Odell # 3 too?
On request, i can send you pictures of the misterious stripes.

RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Odell 3 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Odell Serial Number page and the Odell 3 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
