189X Hammond 2 Serial # 49958 189X Hammond 2 typewriter, Serial # 49958 Enrico Morozzi's 189X Hammond 2 typewriter. 2014-04-10 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Enrico Morozzi: 189X Hammond 2 Serial # 49958 The Hammond mo.2 is the oldest Hammond in my collection, it works with a very smooth action. I found it in very nice mechanic conditions, although it was very dirty and the casse was broken and I had to repair it. Some former owner put a handle on the case to use it as a carrying bag. I left the handle anyway, but that case is NOT a carrying bag..
Ok.. there is a pant-elastic instead of a typing belt, but you know what? It works.. :-)

If you tried to find a 10mm-wide ribbon then you knoe it is impossible to find.. there's a trick: buy a EPSON ERC-27 (cod. OEM C43S01536) cartridge, crack open it, and use its purple ribbon...

That lever behind the carriage is used for setting the margin. That key on the bottom is very inviting.. but this is not a clock.. better don't touch that if you're not 100% sure of what you're doing, because this is the fastest way to break the mainspring.

The case before the restoration.. this is what happen if you put a handle on the side..
There are two additional enclosures to lock the case with padlocks.

This photo is from the seller, this is the machine before cleaning. NB as you can see the spacebar is mounted upside down.

Before cleaning and polishing.. not so shiny, but still a great typewriter.
