I bought this Hammond from a collector friend. I also bought a Hammond Multiplex Folding No.26 with sheet metal housing from the same collector in 2021. But I always wanted to own an old Hammond without a sheet metal case, so that you can see the fascinating mechanics.

this is the type shaft, and the round metal wheel is called the anvil. When the key is pressed, the type slip turns either to the right or to the left and then a hammer hits the paper from behind against the type on the type slip.
