Description:
The machine is in reasonably good condition, but with rust. It will need careful cleaning and restoration.
The serial shows "D 12215 D". The exact year is unknown. Other serials on TWDB so far show #21724, #24345, #25295.
This model was introduced in 1897 and model 5 started in 1904.

- 2026-01-16: had the typebar rest tested for asbestos, and the lab test came back negative: "This is 90% tan plant fiber felt with sand. Asbestos is none detected."

I started collecting my first pre-WW2 standard typewriters in 2017. Since then I have added a few machines to my collection, which now ranges from the 1880s to the 1980s. As of 2024, I have more big standard (desktop) typewriters than portables, a few standard electrics, and some unusual machines like Varitypers, uncommon IBM machines, and more. I am not a pro restorer, but I have restored a few of my machines beyond simple cleaning.
