Description:
As a native Iowan, I've always been drawn to the Jewett as the only machine (other than early Olivers) made in the state. I got this rough Jewett 1 (with the Duplex tags) from fellow native Iowan Herman Price in 2018. It'll take some time to get it up and running again, but after dusting it off for some pictures, I was surprised to find that the serial number 1786 (or 1726) actually IS visible on top. I had previously thought that the serial-number badge that is on later models had rusted-off somehow.

RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Jewett 1 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Jewett Serial Number page and the Jewett 1 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
