Description:
🎵 Dogbone Sun,
Won’t you come,
And wash away the rain… 🎶
Anyway, this is a fairly rare Sun index typewriter from the 1880s. Gave it a quick cleaning and de-rusting, as it arrived in pretty rough shape. It took about a week to make it from neighboring New Jersey, where it came from an estate sale in September, 2025.. The package tracking says it crossed state borders 8 times, making three stops in Jersey City, two stops in Philadelphia, and apparent side quests to New York City and back and Washington, DC and back. When it arrived, poorly packed, the package was soaked with a carriage rail sticking through the side.

RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Sun Dogbone on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Sun Serial Number page and the Sun Dogbone By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
