Description:
An important machine in typewriter history: succeeds the original Remington No. 1, which was the Sholes & Glidden machine, and first to introduce upper and lower case shifting. Also, the No. 2 is truly the first commercially successful machine on a large scale.
My machine is missing one type bar, two keys, wooden roller and paper table. Nevertheless, it is a fascinating machine to have in ones collection. This is a relatively early No. 2. The shift keys read: "Upper Case" and "Lower Case." Later, Remington would change these to read, "Shift Key."

RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Remington 2 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Remington Serial Number page and the Remington 2 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
