I spotted this Underwood Standard high on shelf at a cousin’s house in a tiny village in northern Spain during a recent visit. It is not typing, but it probably would respond to a good cleaning.
My husband’s cousin graciously offered me the typewriter, but sadly its size and weight - it feels like it’s over 35 lbs - made me nervous about getting it home to California in one piece. It may go to another family member in Pamplona who has an interest in tinkering with old typewriters.
The serial number on this Underwood SS is located next to the right ribbon spool.
Status: Typewriter Hunter
I'm a novice collector with a very small collection of mostly nonfunctional typewriters. I enjoy tinkering and repairs, so I am slowly but surely putting these typewriters back into service.
