1933 Underwood 6

Serial #4150373-11

I discovered that this typewriter was a "mill" that types in ALL CAPS. It was probably used in telegraph office.

I used a photo from John M.'s Underwood 6 listing to make a carriage repair. Thank you, TWDB!

I noted that "Aug 18 1903" is stamped on the typebar rest. Do all old Underwoods have this or just mills?

The typewriter has a "Do" character. I was told by a commenter on my blog that the “Do” symbol stands for “ditto”, often used for columns of numbers that repeat.

The serial number is stamped on the frame under the carriage on the right side of the machine.

I'm a novice collector with a very small collection of mostly nonfunctional typewriters. I enjoy tinkering and repairs, so I am slowly but surely putting these typewriters back into service.
