Description:
This Office-Riter was obtained from a local seller in another City while I was on a work trip. It types very well and has only needed the typical cleaning including the typefaces except for one repair to the left side of the carriage. It is a Quiet-Riter with an 11 inch carriage, no carriage lock, and it has a 10-1/10th inch writing line per testing on this machine. It sits on an extra base which raises the keyboard one-half inch higher than the Quiet-Riter, it seems to serve to conceal the typewriter feet. Its carriage return lever is straighter and clears the ribbon cover by about an eigth of an inch.
It has sustained some trauma to the left top of the carriage. The carriage return lever was dragging on the ribbon cover; after removal it was found the horizontal plate it sits on was bent down. That was fixed with pliers and the re-installed lever no longer drags on the ribbon cover. In addition, the left knob shaft is slightly bent but it isn't affecting operation of the machine.
Upper case printing is better with the shift held down than it is with the shift lock on. It is a little light on top with the shift lock on.
Also have the carrying case which was an optional extra…the machine is very heavy so I don’t trust the case handle given signs of weak spots in the case.

I started with 2 Monroe calculating machines then in January 2023 I used my Christmas money to buy a 1936 L.C. Smith and Corona, Corona Standard portable. Since then have acquired more typewriters. Also have 2 Engineers Transits (surveying instruments), a K+E Foresters staff compass, and 4 slide rules. Typewriters as a hobby has been more affordable than antique surveying instruments anre and they are easier to obtain.
