The Typewriter Database 1949 Torpedo 18 Serial # 491174 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Imre Deneer: 1949 Torpedo 18 Serial # 491174 Torpedo 18 bought from German Ebay.
Great looking machine, with good typing action.
What I particularly like about this machine are the glass keys (with beautiful icons) and the full chrome details. I find myself looking often at the reflection of the typebars on the chrome. Stunning!

Before it is finished, I still have to fix the following:
- I am missing one platen knob on the right hand side. I'm not sure yet what I'm going to use to replace it. Perhaps just a simple make-shift knob, or I might find an actual replacement.
- the platen is rock-hard (this is the hardest platen I've seen yet!) that makes it loud to type on, and the typebars are puncturing the paper. With a backing sheet, it kind of works, but I suppose that with a fresh platen, it'll work like new

Sold - no longer in my collection

I love to read literature, and was very curious as to how the authors I love the most, physically wrote their novels. That got me into typewriters.
