1938 Diplomat 4 Serial # 222890 1938 Diplomat 4 typewriter, Serial # 222890 Lupo Cuore's 1938 Diplomat 4 typewriter. 2024-02-23 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Lupo Cuore: 1938 Diplomat 4 Serial # 222890 EDIT: Added cleaned up photo. This is a machine that took some detective work to figure out as the Diplomat 4 isn't on the Serial number lists. But looking at it, it's identical to the Olympia Simplex, and its serial fits the Simplex's range, so apparently Olympia rebranded the SImplex as the Diplomat 4. I love a mystery. :D It's a mess right now, just got it a couple hours ago, so I'll be setting about cleaning it up and getting it back in shape. The escapement works, the typebars stick but work, so far everything mechanical works but needs a cleaning out. The knob (there's only one) is busted but maybe I can get my hands on an Olympia knob at some point. :)
