I am a 30 year old with an English degree. I am a writer and federal Policy Analyst living in the tiny province of Prince Edward Island, Canada. I love typewriters, but after buying a 1910 Underwood #5, I learned that the nearest typewriter repair person listed on Google is a 14 hour drive from me. So I have begun -- amateurishly, recreationaly -- dabbling in typewriter repair and refurbishment. I am new to this and, probably for more seasoned typewriter veterans, frustratingly ignorant to the names of parts and the mechanics of typewriters; but, hey, I am a child of the '90s and hadn't seen a typewriter in real life until I was in my mid-20s. However, I at least know that I don't know the first damned thing. I am here to learn, to listen, to read.
