Description:
An unexpected favorite. It’s the workhorse (workpony?) I would take on a trip.
Per Robert Messenger these were first made in 1995 (http://oztypewriter.blogspot.com/2012/02/2012-manual-portable-typewriter.html).
I can't find a serial number database for this model. If you know of one please share!
Pros:
—case and machine both have fun curvy styling
—light enough to carry for distances
—sturdy enough to type without skittering around
—it’s an Olympia!
Cons:
—the paper guide is a bit weak. This yields sloppy lines of type at very top of page if using stiffer paper like index cards. A thin margin of stiff paper won’t stay put under the guide.
—no mechanism (that I can find) to release the platen from pre-set line spacing. Can’t roll the platen to position paper for sub- or supra-text characters.
—platen release mechanism seems to push left side of paper up on platen when re-engaging. Takes several tries to get paper in machine squarely.
